How to introduce your body to turmeric

There's one super ingredient that will do wonders for your body.

I’ll be honest with you, for a very long time whenever I heard someone order a turmeric latte, I would roll my eyes.

“Hipster nonsense,” I would think. “Just have a normal flat white and don’t assume you’re better than me.”

Well, turns out turmeric is so good for us, we really should be eating it/drinking it/smearing it on our bodies whenever we can.

You know how red wine is good for us because it includes an antioxidant called resveratrol, which fights free radicals in the body?

Well, there’s similarly good news when it comes to the latest superfood: turmeric.

As well as giving dishes a signature orange gold glow and slight ginger-y taste, turmeric is also gangbusters when it comes to your overall wellbeing, thanks to the active ingredient of curcumin.

Curcumin is a superpower because it can help our bodies in a range of ways – including supporting joint health, our cardiovascular function and even aiding the health of our digestive system.

Yep, you know all those headlines on gut health? This is an ingredient that can be helpful in supporting that process.

Whether in powder form or grated from the fresh root, turmeric is a fantastic ingredient to incorporate into your diet for overall heart and digestive health as well. Orange you glad you know about it? (Sorry).

3 ways to introduce your body to turmeric

1. Powder report

Add turmeric powder – the good ol’ spice rack kind – to soups, curries, savoury dishes or smoothies. It has a mild warming flavour and adds a great boost of goodness. This is the perfect season for a curry, after all!

2. The root of the solution

If you can get access to it, in specialty food shops or supermarkets, then buy fresh turmeric. It looks almost identical to ginger root, only with a brighter orange colour, and can be grated in to any dish as well or in place of ginger.

3. Easy peasy

Take the guesswork out of it by incorporating a daily supplement into your regime. GO Healthy has a range of high-strength turmeric-based products to choose from, depending on your particular health focus or concern. Whether it’s support for digestion, joint mobility or overall wellness, there’s a high-potency supplement that will help you get the right balance for your wellbeing needs.
