70-year-old woman who was body-shamed at the gym speaks out for first time

The victim says she is “humiliated” after being photographed undressing and publically shamed for her body by playmate model Dani Mathers.

After being body-shamed on snapchat last year by former Playboy model Dani Mathers, the victim has now spoken publically through her lawyer.

According to the Los Angeles Times attorney Mike Feur says “the impact of this incident is irreparable”.

“It causes harm that will reverberate on and on. Body shaming is inhumane. And it tears down the victim’s self-respect. It has devastating consequences. It stigmatises victims.”

In 2016 Dani Mathers received huge backlash for taking a photo of herself laughing at the 70-year-old undressing privately in a gym changing room and captioning it “if I can’t unsee this then neither can you.”

The former Playboy model then posted the image to her photo sharing account Snapchat, and was sentenced to three years’ probation and community service after pleading no contest to an invasion of privacy charge.

While Dani has since apologised publically for the incident, she also claims she has reached out to the victim to apologise personally – to which the victim’s lawyer denies.

“I saw Ms. Mathers on ‘Good Morning America.’ She claims that she’s tried to contact the victim, I presume to apologise. I will share with you, that surprises the victim, who told me she is unaware of any attempt by Ms. Mathers to reach out to her.”

The victim is also reportedly seeking no compensation for the incident, except for $60 to buy a new backpack as she is worried the one in the photo may give away her identity.
