Why you shouldn’t wear the same pair of shoes every day

The one important reason we should be alternating our footwear.

Whether it’s our trusty trainers or killer heels, we all have a pair of shoes that we like to rely on in this great game of life.

The classic brogues that will see us through that nerve-wracking presentation. The time-worn plimsols that are our go-to companion on a lengthy commute. The leather wedges that encapsulate everything that’s great about summer.

But, says one of the world’s leading footwear entrepreneurs, we should avoid wearing the same shoes over and again.

Jim Kass, of American shoe empire Allen Edmonds, reckons the best way to extend a shoe’s lifespan is to rotate what you wear from day to day.

This is because we all sweat into our shoes on a daily basis, Kass explains to Business Insider.

Perspiration is completely normal and we all do it; but you need to give your trainers, flats or whatever it is that you wear, enough time to dry off before using them again.

“If you wear the same pair everyday, your shoes don’t have ample time to dry and they won’t maintain their shape,” Kass says.

If you really want to get pro about it, you should consider investing in a few shoe trees.

These will work to keep your shoes in shape and soak up the sweat after a day’s wear (grim, but true).

Now that’s knowledge we bet shoe aficionado Carrie Bradshaw never knew…
