One of the most well-liked players in the game was booted out of Survivor New Zealand last night, causing more than a few tears to be shed among his fellow tribe-mates.
However, Matai’a Salatielu (Sala) Tiatia told us he harboured no hard feelings – despite feeling “pretty gutted” about being sent home.
The youth worker from Christchurch had been a big personality throughout the game and quickly formed fast friendships with the other contestants, but a shift brought about by Auckland mum Barb saw Sala being sent to Redemption Island.
There, he lost out to Mike in a duel based on memory recall.
“As soon as Matt told us it was a memory challenge, I was doomed,” he told us frankly.

Survivor New Zealand returns tonight at 7.30 pm on TVNZ 2.
