Nicole Kidman is set to reunite with New Zealand director Jane Campion for the second season of the acclaimed TV series Top of the Lake.

This marks the second collaboration for Nicole Kidman and Jane Campion, who previously worked together on the 1996 film Portrait of a Lady.

The first season of Top of the Lake, which focused on the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant girl named Tui in New Zealand’s rural South Island, earned star Elisabeth Moss a Golden Globe for her performance as the detective trying to track Tui down.

Nicole has now returned to her native Australia to start work on the second season, which will be titled Top of the Lake: China Girl. It is the first time the Oscar-winning actress has been back Down Under to work on a local production since 1989, when she appeared in the Australian miniseries Bangkok Hilton.

She joins Elisabeth Moss, who is reprising her role as Detective Robin Griffin, as well as Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.

The second season will pick up four years after the events of the first and will feature Elisabeth’s character investigating a new murder in Sydney.

“I’m so excited to be back in Australia working with Jane on exploring this wonderful character. I can’t wait for audiences to see where we take Robin’s journey,” Elisabeth said in a statement.
