Her romantic relationship with Zac Franich fizzled out on last night’s episode of The Bachelor New Zealand, but axed Bachelorette Karina Grant says she’s leaving the Three reality show with firm friendships instead.

“The biggest surprise [from being on the show] would probably be how close I got with the other girls. I didn’t really expect, coming into it, to like any of them, and I ended up making lifelong friends,” Karina says.

The blonde beauty, who was a late addition to the group alongside two other ‘intruders’, had a bit of a controversial start with the other Bachelorettes when it was revealed she had previously dated host Dominic Bowden.

But despite the drama, Zac seemed to find a spark with the 23-year-old law student and kept her around even as a number of the other ‘original’ Bachelorettes were sent home.

However, despite scoring a romantic one-on-one date taking in Bangkok’s famous floating markets, it all came to an end on Sunday night’s episode as Karina was left without a coveted rose.

Asked what advice she would give anyone considering going on the show, Karina says to “think long and hard – but if you’re cool with having a lot of attention on you, then go for it.”

Now that she’s out of the running for Zac’s heart, Karina says she’s picking Sarah and Lily as the ones to watch.

“Sarah is extremely genuine and kind and an absolutely amazing person, and that comes across really well on camera,” she says of her fellow intruder.

The action continues tonight in another episode of The Bachelor New Zealand – tune in on Three at 7.30pm.
