What the royal wedding celebrity guests thought of Meghan and Prince Harry’s big day

Their emotional responses are very sweet.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding will go down in history as one of the most beautiful and dynamic royal weddings we have ever seen and the world will be talking about it for months to come.

But while members of the royal family are not permitted to have social media accounts (translation: reveal too much about their private lives) celebrities can and many of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s celebrity guests took to social media afterwards to share their thoughts on the big day. From Oprah to the Beckhams to Meghan’s former Suits co-star Gabriel Macht to Elton John, here are some of our favourite Instagram posts about Meghan and Harry’s big day from the stars who attended:

Victoria Beckham felt proud to be British

David and Victoria Beckham both said the wedding evoked a strong sense of patriotism.

Victoria Beckham took to Instagram to congratulate the newlyweds on “an amazing day” and thank them for inviting herself and husband David.

“So proud to be British!,” she exclaimed. “Thank you so much for including @davidbeckham and I. We are so honoured and so happy for you both.”

Husband David Beckham was filled with a sense of patriotism too

Victoria’s husband David Beckham was equally filled with a sense of British pride and patriotism.

“What a proud day for our country today!,” he said in an emotional post on Instagram.

“Watching Harry as happy as he was makes us all proud of the man and person he has always been…what a day!♥️”

The Beckhams, who also attended Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s wedding in 2011, have been pals with Princes Harry and William and their wives for some time.

In a 2013 interview with Esquire David said he considered both William and Harry to be his friends. “They’re very easy to get along with. They love their sport. William loves Aston Villa, unfortunately, which obviously I give him a bit of stick about.”

Victoria is reportedly becoming close friends with Meghan as well.

Oprah Winfrey loved every minute

“OMG was this an extraordinary day!,” Oprah gushed on her Instagram account. “Loved every minute,” she hashtagged.

One of the first guests to arrive, Oprah seemed completely at ease soaking up the atmosphere and chatting with other guests.

She revealed to her Insta followers that she came close to a wardrobe malfunction:

“Thank you @stellamccartney!,” she said. “Realized Friday morning the beige dress I was planning to wear to Royal ceremony would photograph too “white” for a wedding. Her team did this overnite. Hat is vintage @philiptreacy been in my closet since 2005 with new feathers.”

Sounds like a lucky save, and what an amazing turnaround. Oprah looked incredible too.

Gabriel Macht, who played Meghan’s boss in Suits, posted a very sweet message to the newlyweds on Instagram, congratulating them and wishing them a journey together filled with love and children. He said he “enjoyed meeting the couple’s friends and family and felt honoured to be part of their celebration.

“Congrats to Meghan and Prince Harry on your nuptials. Enjoyed meeting many of your family and friends and an incredible honor to be a part of the whole celebration. May your journey together be full of love and children.”

He sounds like a friend for life.

Gabriel’s wife Jacinda Barrett seemed completely taken by the day

“Congratulations Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,” Jacinda Barrett’s Instagram post began.

“What a beautiful and joyous day today was with your lovely family and friends.”

Of all the posts, this one probably shared the most detail about the reception afterwards at Frogmore House, giving us some lovely insights into what went on. Guests clearly had an amazing time.

“I danced when @eltonjohn sang, laughed at Prince Charles fantastic speech and am honoured to witness your commitment and love for each other,” she shared.

“Wishing you a long and happy life together.”

Elton John said it simply with a beautiful Maya Angelou quote

Elton John with husband David Furnish.

When someone else can say it better than you, it seems best to borrow their phrasing.

Elton John summed up how he felt about Harry and Meghan’s joyous day with this beautiful and emotion-filled quote from Maya Angelou:

“Love recognises no barriers.

“It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination, full of hope.”
