Hospital sources say Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge is “responding well” to treatment after being hospitalised for hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness.
A St James’s Palace spokesman said, “The Duchess of Cambridge is continuing to feel better.”
The 30-year-old spent her second day in King Edward VII Hospital in London where she is on an IV drip, after Prince William rushed his wife to the hospital yesterday after she suffered an extensive bout of vomiting and sickness.
The duchess is being cared for by two of Britain’s top doctors, consultant Alan Farthing, who is overseeing the birth of Kate’s first child, and Marcus Setchell, who spent two decades as the Queen’s surgeon.
Kate, who is less than 12 weeks pregnant, is expected to be visited by her sister Pippa later today and her mother Carol was seen leaving the family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire. A royal source said the duke and duchess’ families are concerned about Kate’s sickness but have been “reassured” that neither she nor the baby are in serious danger.
