Behind the scenes with the Auckland children’s chorus of Carmen

As far as opera’s go, Carmen is one of the most enduring.

The story of a woman who will be free at any cost, it is described as “sexy and sensual” featuring a parade of hit tunes, and set in an exotic locale with a fearless heroine.

NZ Opera’s version of the stunning tale is currently touring New Zealand, and while the story line is definitely a little saucy, a troop of younger performers are joining the grown ups on stage.

We met one of the members of the Carmen children’s chorus, Harry Sills, who revealed what it’s really like being a youngster performing one of the world’s great operas here in New Zealand.
