Following her shock split with James Packer, Mariah Carey has addressed the breakup during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The 46-year-old made a festive appearance on the show, where she opened up about the split while discussing her new E! docu-series Mariah’s World.
After welcoming the Grammy winner onto the stage, Ellen asked Mariah how she was doing mentally, following the breakup.
“Everything happens for a reason,” she revealed. “Things are the way they are.”
She added: “It’s kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment.”
When Ellen addressed the rumours that Mariah’s former fiancé had not wanted to be in her documentary, Mariah responded with “allegedly”, seemingly implying that may not have been the case.
After reports surfaced last month that Mariah had split with James, the pop star’s representatives issued a public statement regarding the break up, confirming the couple was on the rocks.
“Mariah Carey and James Packer had a fight in Greece. They have not seen each other since,” the statement read.
“They are trying to work it out but right now they are not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it and plan to release a statement about their future.”
