While the pair remained tight-lipped about the exact date and venue for their wedding, Daily Mail confirmed that it took place over the weekend at a secret location in Byron Bay.

According to Daily Mail, The 26-year old actress arrived home in a suggestive Say ‘I Do’ Down Under T-shirt at Gold Coast airport last week.

Friends say it’s a dream come true for the Queensland-born star, who is head-over-heels in love with her British husband who she dated for three years, and was delighted to share her big day with her nearest and dearest.

“The Gold Coast was somewhere she always wanted to get married, given it’s where she was raised as a kid, on her grandparents’ farm,” a friend reveals to Woman’s Day Australia.

Friends close to the couple say getting married on the Gold Coast was important to the actress.

“Tom initially wanted to get married in the UK, but he knows how much it means to Margot to tie the knot on home soil and how special it is for her, so he didn’t put up much of a fight.

“They decided to marry around Christmas so they could spend time with both their families afterwards, which they’ve never done before,” our insider says, adding that guests, who flew to Queensland in mid-December, were all sworn to secrecy to keep the big day private.

Earlier in the year, the star admitted her heart lies with Australia and she plans to raise her children here.

“They’ll be here. The kids will be in Australia,” she explained during a chat on The Project.

Adding that her partner feels the same. “‘He loves Australia. He’s like, ‘I don’t know why anyone leaves Australia!'”

As for how her family get on with British-born Tom, Margot says they adore him and aren’t afraid to share some friendly banter with him.

“The family give him hell for being a pommie! When he comes for Christmas everybody’s like, ‘Oh, the pommie!'”
