24 hours with… Rebekah Palmer from Shortland Street

The Kiwi actress who plays nurse Dawn Robinson on Shortland Street reveals her beauty routine and makeup must-haves.

Getting ready for my day is usually pretty simple. I start every day with a shower (and coffee) to wake up.

If I am washing my hair I use my favorite purple shampoo, Fudge Clean Blonde.

A good quality face wash is something that important to me as I am always wearing make-up. I’m currently using Murad Exfoliating Cleanse which makes my skin feel so good!

I love leaving my skin hydrated after the shower especially in winter when my skin always seems to be dry.

For this, my tub of Pure Fiji Body Butter is my go-to for my body and Murad Perfecting Day Cream for my face.

The day cream has an SPF 30 included which is important to me even in winter.

I always have a spare mascara in my handbag for on the go touch ups. At the moment I am using Opulash Optium Black by MAC.

Lucas PawPaw ointment is always a must-have in my hand bag to keep my lips moisturized.

I’ve always been a Marilyn Monroe girl, and red lipstick is my all-time favorite.

There is usually more than one shade floating around in the bottom of my handbag ready to combat any lipstick emergency!

A couple of my favourite shades include Madness by Mellow and Retro Matte Ruby Woo by MAC.

I’ve also recently discovered Diva by MAC which I love for a darker winter look.

I don’t have too much of a routine for nights out – as long as I am using a good primer before makeup I am happy as it always seems to make my foundation look fresher for longer. Smashbox Photo Finish is my go to.

I never go to bed wearing make-up. I always use Murad Exfoliating Cleanse to take off my makeup and Nivea Q10 night cream on my face to keep my skin moisturized.

Every now and again I will use a face mask when I am feeling the need to pamper myself – currently in the bathroom cabinet is Art a Face Refining Mud Mask which I find pretty much vanishes any pimples or blemishes in my skin.

I think I have started to care about my skin a whole lot more as I’ve got older.

When I was younger my Mum always made sure us girls had a good quality moisturizer, but often I wouldn’t care to use it.

As I have grown up and started wearing more makeup, moisturizer and cleanser are a huge part of my skin care routine.
